I have never seen so many people at Mass in the U.S. when it wasn't Easter or Christmas. Wow.

I have to disagree. You were alive when John XXIII initiated all the reforms of Vatican II. JP2 was a great pope, no question, but I think J23's legacy will prove to be greater.

I'm not a student of Popery! Unless I do some research (which isn't at all likely), I'll defer to you.

Pope
I won't disagree. It's a close call. If you count JPII's conservatism against him, it goes the other way. But, irritating as it was, I would say JPII's conservatism was unimportant and will ultimately impact little. It was just flat out too unpopular to be taken seriously.
