I just read that article about 20 minutes ago. I'm not sure if I'm pleased or dismayed that the authors are from Cornell. There's a similar idea that's being loosely implemented for Siberia as well, to try and restore the ecosystem by simulating the conditions that existed prior to extensive human settlement. There are even, I think, some efforts underway to clone a mammoth.

I think we should keep the Great Plains clear so that we'll have space to put dinosaurs there when Operation Jurassic Park is completed.

Some might say we already have dinosaurs in the Great Plains states: the American farmer. <ducks>

I think they were referring to the quadripeds, not the bipeds in motor vehicles! <grin>

When the aquifer that's being depleted to water all those farms goes dry, we won't have any other use for the land, so why not?
