I saw this meme on scholargipsy's journal and thought I would post it as well, as I am insanely curious about these sorts of things:

What was your first impression upon meeting me? How did I strike you? What do you recall?

So, go ahead and answer. Don't hold any punches. I can't say I won't get offended, but I can say that I will respect an honest answer and won't hold it against you.

(Okay, I'm either going to have my ego stroked or will be dashed to pieces. I'm prepared for either outcome.)

I'm supposed to remember that far back? sheesh.

at a guess, my first impression was probably a calculation as to how many of your CDs i could borrow ;)

I honestly don't remember the first time I met you. It's not to say that you aren't important; I just can't remember when I started being able to distinguish you from the throng of people at either slinkr's or bitty's parties.

I first met you at treacle_well and bitty's Cape getaway:

Kind, gentle, laid-back, but perhaps a bit neurotic and excessively self-deprecating. I thought it was charming and very cool when you sang "Non Piu Andrai" for surrealestate and me, and I enjoyed getting to know you in the days following.

We actually met before that. I know for a fact that we met during treacle_well's birthday celebration, the gameplaying portion at surrealestate's house. If you have been to any of bitty or treacle_well's parties or queue's Boggle tournament, it's quite possible that we met even earlier.

You arrived at a party with a very rude person, who made enough of an ass of himself to make me remember all those traveling with him as asses, too. It took almost a year for bitty to point out that you just hang out with this creep, you really aren't like him at all.

As it happens, she was right.

This creep really has some very redeeming qualities. I just wish he'd open his eyes and ears long enough to see how he comes across.

pinkfish confirms my recollection that I was also at the party in question, and on hearing your "real-life" name I vaguely remember meeting you, but I have to confess that that's about all I remember. I don't think this counts.

By the time you arrived, I was almost as worn out as your mother was. It had been a long afternoon, with your mother claiming something was about to happen and the doctor telling me to go home and get a couple of hours of rest before anything started to happen. Your mother was right, the doctor was wrong ... and you arrived safely at last.
