Panama Pride

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful - and so are we," the US president told a high-level meeting of Pentagon officials.

"They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people - and neither do we."

Well, at lease he's being honest for a change! (from a BBC News article)
Me

(no subject)

This morning I woke up at 8 instead of 7. I, thus, decided not to go to the gym, because by the time I got there, had a complete workout, returned, showered, and left for work, there was no way I'd be on time. So instead I chose to sleep an extra half hour. Almost 2 hours later, I woke up. I was late for work anyway. <sigh> I should have gone to the gym.

I noticed the unmarked CrownVic in my neighborhood with a fully-uniformed cop inside. I noticed the partially-uniformed cop on his way to work in an unmarked vehicle, most likely his own car. How is it, then, that I didn't notice the fully-marked State Trooper until he pulled up alongside and passed me? Good thing I wasn't doing anything illegal, other than eating nuts1! I'm often speeding on the highway, but congestion deterred me this morning.

If I have an informal, casual, potluck cookout in my backyard tomorrow afternoon, would any of you come? Or are you already booked? It would be nice to hang out with some of you who I haven't seen in a while, and it would give me some motivation to tidy up the house tonight. Let me know, either here or in an e-mail.

LG, a voice teacher who is good friends with Ellie (my teacher), has planted a seed that is beginning to take root. She suggested that maybe I study in Paris. This wouldn't take the place of grad school, IMO; rather, I could see myself going there for six months to work on French language and literature. If I don't get accepted into a graduate program for the Spring term, I think this is an intriguing possibility.

1 Talking on a cellphone in the car is not illegal in Massachusetts, but eating in the car is. Go figure!
