If you'll recall, back in early March I set myself a goal of reading 50 books during 2005. I know, for a few of you that's not much of a challenge; but for me it's quite daunting.
Alas, I fell woefully short. But how short? I knew I haven't read close to 50, but I really couldn't tell you off the top of my head whether I'd even reached the halfway mark. Thus, I decided to go back and make a tally of the books I've read this year.

By the end of the year I will have also finished:
- Anthony, Piers: On a Pale Horse
- Lewis, C.S.: The Four Loves
- Proulx, Annie: Close Range: Wyoming Stories (or, at the very least, "Brokeback Mountain," which is in this collection)
That would bring my total for the year to 29, just past halfway. I think I'm going to push for 30, so that I can at least say I accomplished 60% of my goal.
Yeah, I fell far short. But you know what, I think this is quite possibly the most reading I've done in a year. If I hadn't gotten involved in two rugby seasons, a 7-month relationship, and Merry Wives of Windsor (or chosen one book that was about 1000 pages long), it's quite possible I would have come closer to my goal. But I wouldn't make that trade. I cherish my experiences with rugby, K, and MWoW, and the books will still be there next year.
