But I did make it to Burlington Mall, despite the snow. Bought a really cool lightweight sweater for $10. Bought a nice blue button-down shirt and a lovely green t-shirt, both on sale, at another store. Picked up the extended version of Return of the King for a discounted price, and a CD of Rachmaninov playing all his piano concertos with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra (which should be a gem). Also picked up Cryptonomicon, which has been recommended to me by various friends, most recently slinkr. (I used to shy away from the longer novels, opting for things under 400 pages; but I breezed through The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy so quickly and am now two-thirds of the way through American Gods after only a few days, that I think maybe it's time I start tackling the really long books.)
The most important purchase of the evening, however, took place at the Verizon Wireless store. They were able to transfer the memory from my damaged phone to a new phone (same model) for only $60 ($50 for the phone replacement, $10 for the memory transfer). It's so nice having a working phone again! Can't wait till I have a functioning laptop again, too!
BTW, now that I have all three LotR extended version DVDs (and access to Tubby's big t.v. and surround sound system), I think it's time to do a Lord of the Rings marathon. Any interest? Sundays are best for me for the next couple of months. If people are interested, we could find a mutually agreeable date and make this happen. Let me know.
