Well, my brakes work!

I'm going down the South Station tunnel to work. The truck in front of me changes lanes to the left. I slowly accelerate to start to pass him. I hear the squeal of a horn from somewhere to my left but don't immediately realize where it's coming from. A split second later the truck that had been in front of me a few moments ago suddenly swerves back in front of me and slams on his brakes. I slam on my brakes as hard as I can and almost lose control of my truck, swerving partly into the lane to my right. Thank God there wasn't a car there! I come within 4 to 6 inches of the car in front of me. I thought for sure I was going to clip his tail, but I manage to slow down and control of my truck just enough that I avoid him. I feel a surge of anger rising up directed at this guy when the entire sequence of events, including the reason for that truck's behavior, registers in my conscious mind.

The truck in front of me wasn't at fault. Rather, the truck slightly ahead and in the lane to the left of him was. This third truck decided to cut in front of the first truck, forcing him to brake and swerve into my lane. This idiot continued unfazed into my lane and then into the lane to my right, heading for an exit he had by all rights missed. That's four lanes of traffic he swerved sharply across with no regard for other traffic! And if the truck in front of me and I (or any other vehicles) had collided, I'm sure this asshole wouldn't have bothered to stop. Ugh!
