This has not been a good week for Tony Dungy, head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

First, on Sunday, the underdog 8-5 San Diego Chargers came into his backyard in Indianapolis and kept the Colts from making NFL history, handing them their first loss of the season.

Then, yesterday, the NFL announced its Pro Bowl (all-star game) rosters. Amongst the several Colts chosen was offensive lineman Tarik Glenn, who's had an excellent season. Dungy broke the news to Glenn in front of teammates, only to have to tell him a few hours later that — oopsie! — the NFL made a clerical mistake. I've never seen Dungy look so angry!

But worst of all was today's news. Dungy's eldest son, 18-year-old James Dungy, was found dead early this morning in his Tampa apartment. I can't begin to imagine what Dungy must be going through right now.

Dungy is one of the NFL's good guys. Hard worker, classy guy, brilliant coach and teacher. There are plenty of assholes in the league. Why does the bad stuff happen to the good guys?

Tony Dungy
