My plans for this evening have apparently fallen through, so what better to do than a meme? (Oh, I dunno… finish my website or start my taxes, maybe?)
1. What does your Live Journal name mean?
It's the name of my freelance web design business. The "SP" stands for "Singing Panamanian."
2. Elaborate on your default icon?
The photo was taken by elgatocurioso's sister Tamara at Logan Airport. It was the first time I had seen her since our fling. My grandmother had just passed away and I was on my way to Panamá for the funeral and she was on her way to Gabon, Africa, to live. By pure coincidence, we shared a plane to Newark and had a nice time just hanging out. She took two pictures of me while waiting to board, this one and another of the two of us. Both are great photos, and I think this is one of the best pictures taken of me. It captures the introspective side of me, and I love the lighting.
3. Make up a question.
4. What's your current relationship status?
Heartbroken and still having difficulty getting past the break up; i.e., yes, single.
5. What EXACTLY are you wearing right now?
Not to be too exacting, but I will describe precisely what I am wearing. I am wearing black socks, black Calvin Klein boxer-briefs, blue Levis frayed at the bottom, a brown leather belt with a garish Eagle belt buckle, a brown t-shirt with an image of a Fender guitar on the front, and a cross made of driftwood (given to me as a confirmation present by my sponsor, Harry Duchesne), with a dove etched into it, hanging from my neck by brown twine.
6. What is your current problem?
Problem, as in singular??? Yeah, right. Well, if I have to pick one, I'll choose the one I was working on before deciding to procrastinate with this meme: trying to figure out the best way to present my portfolio and testimonials on my updated website.
7. What do you love most?
8. What makes you most happy?
Oh, boy! This would have been easy to answer a couple of months ago! Right now, not much. I suppose what makes me most happy is knowing that I can help a friend when he or she needs it. Lately, though, I've been more of a burden on my friends than help. Related to that, being on stage and knowing that, through my performance, I've affected someone in a positive way — this is why I'm still at it. And really, that's just another way of helping "friends." ;)
9. Are you musically inclined?
Um… Well, I'm lying on my bed, propped up on my elbow and listening to John Williams (no, not him…the other John Williams) play Albéniz, so yes, I guess I am musically inclined!
10. If you could go back in time and change something, what would you change?
I'd go back about a year, when I started telling people I wanted to move to England, and not. Doesn't mean I wouldn't have moved to London, but so many negative things have happened to me in the past six months solely because I've been talking about this move for the past year that I felt I had little choice but to come. Had I not started talking about it so much, I might have waited for other things in my life to resolve themselves, for the timing to be better.
11. If you MUST be an animal for ONE day, what would you be?
12. Ever have a near death experience?
More than I care to mention in this meme. If there's enough curiosity, maybe I'll post about them.
13. Name an obvious quality you have.
I'm big, both in physical terms (height and girth) and in terms of my occasionally over-the-top personality.
14. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
Right now that's difficult, since I'm listening to great music. (If you don't know Albéniz, I recommend you listen to John Williams' Echoes of Spain.) When I'm not listening to something, though, lately I've had Vivaldi's "Un certo non so che" stuck in my head.
15. Who did you cut and paste this from?
16. Name someone with the same birthday as you.
Kate Bernard, the lovely young actress who was in the cast of The Unexpected Guest with me.
17. Have you ever vandalized someone's private property?
Probably. I can't remember everything I did when a kid. If I did, it would have been something minor, like someone's book or something.
18. Have you ever been in a fight?
In the sixth grade, I was having a bad day and one of my friends was annoying the hell out of me. I gave him a warning to stop what he was doing. He didn't. I punched him in the jaw. He got up a minute later with some assistance. I guess that counts as a fight. I've come close a few times, and there were times in the past couple of years when I wish I hadn't held myself back, but that's the closest to a fight that I've actually been in.
19. Have you ever sung in front of a large audience?
This is clearly a meme written with someone else in mind! I've been singing in front of audiences, big and small, since I was 5.
20. What is the first thing you notice about the opposite-sex potentially-attractive people?
The first thing is usually the face, unless it is obscured from me. That's not to say I don't check out the whole package just like every other guy, but the face is almost universally the first thing I notice. (Same goes for same-sex potentially-attractive people.)
21. What do you usually order from Starbucks?
I'm more likely to pay with star bucks than order from Starbucks!
22. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity?
Yes. The weirdest one was Tom Cruise, when I was a sophomore in high school. That guy must have been on drugs! In college, I got Kevin McHale quite a bit. Garth Brooks was another popular one back then, too. Nowadays I get Russell Crowe and Dan Fouts, with a couple of Bryn Terfel comments.
23. Do you still watch kiddy movies or TV shows?
I can't say I watch anything, really. I haven't sat down to watch t.v. in almost a month. I'm not averse to kiddie movies or shows, though.
24. Did you have braces?
25. Are you comfortable with your height?
Since I haven't dated anyone under 5'5" in a while, yes — except for occasionally hitting my head on pipes, hanging lights, or door jambs.
26. What is the most romantic thing someone has ever done for you?
That's personal. Sorry.
27. Do you speak any other languages?
I spoke Spanish before I learned English. Having studied them formally, I know a smattering of German and Japanese, though not enough to be conversant. I understand quite a bit of French and Italian.
28. Do you have a crush on someone on LJ?
Crush? No. I find several people on LJ attractive—some physically, some because of who they are (personality, etc.), some both—but don't have a crush on any of them.
