My night of insomnia on Thursday, combined with riding around in packed trains yesterday, has caught up with me. I didn't get to sleep on Thursday night/Friday morning till about 5-5:30, despite several attempts. I forced myself to wake up at 9:30, though, despite the fact that I'll be in the U.S. on Tuesday and don't really need to be on British time right now. But I don't want to be on U.S. time until I get to the U.S.!

I should have let myself sleep in yesterday. Sleep-deprived, with lowered immune defenses, is not the way to be riding around on public transportation!

I woke up this morning with a sore throat. I had been invited to a rehearsal for a huge regional choir and decided to go anyway. The sore throat did not affect my singing. However, the thick, yellow mucous building up behind my nose occasionally caused problems. And during the second half of rehearsals, the fatigue really got to me. (Add dry, itchy eyes and sneezing now.)

After the choir rehearsal, I quickly practiced the solo I was asked to sing for tomorrow. I got through it okay, but I advised the woman from the church who had invited me to come along, Dorothy, that I may not be able to sing it tomorrow. I made the mistake of adding something along the lines of, "I can barely sing as it is," or, "I just can't sing well right now." Everyone there just gave me this look and Dorothy said what was probably on their minds: "If that's not good singing…!"

On the way home, I ducked into Tesco's to get some cold medicine and feel-good snacks. I've been in bed ever since, sometimes dozing, sometimes on the laptop. I'm going to sleep early tonight, and hopefully I'll feel better in the morning.
