How many planets are there in our solar system?

If you answered 9, you are no longer correct. Apparently, there are now at least 12. There are the 8 classical planets, from which list Pluto has been removed, and a category called Plutons, which includes Pluto, Charon, Ceres, and another Kuyper Belt object (as yet unnamed UB313). And a few more may be added to the Plutons in the coming years. Who knew?!

Yes, this is the inclusive new list of planets, which does not discriminate unfairly based on size, distance from sun, terra-type, or number of moons possessed. Equality for All!

Cool! It finally happened!

I understand, however, that there is continued controversy over this.

We've been calling the new planet, twice the size of Pluto, Xena. The name, while popular, is still unofficial.
